Annual Report Development

Annual
reports vary significantly, depending on an organization, its goals
and its requirements. Many corporations are obligated to prepare an
annual report for their shareholders at the end of each fiscal year.
Some organizations prepare annual reports to help inform their board
members and other stakeholders of the organization's recent
accomplishments and initiatives.
An annual report can look like a brochure, a magazine, or any other
type of print or electronic media that effectively communicates the
information to the desired audience.
For workforce boards, developing a professionally designed annual report
is often
problematic. They are usually developed by in-house staff who lack the
time and objectivity (and, sometimes, authority) needed to produce a
quality annual report. Sometimes the problem is simply a lack of
technical writing/graphic design/publishing skills. All of these
challenges suggest that an annual report is an ideal project to
contract to an outside expert.
My graphic designer (Mary
Casey) and I would like to help you with your next annual
report. As with the sample report below, your next annual
report would be well-organized and well-written, and professionally
designed and produced.
Content typically includes:
- Introductory statements/letters from the workforce board
chair and director
- Mission and vision statements
- Description of key products and services provided over the past
calendar or fiscal year, including testimonials and
program outcomes (if applicable)
- Revenue allocations
- Board and committee members
