Product Development
My product development
experience includes the design and development of information systems, career resource
publications, desktop and web software applications, and annual
reports.
SkillsMatch, for example,
was an interactive software program I designed to assist individuals
with their skills assessment, career exploration, and job search
activities. It was developed in association with the California
Employment Development
Department and the U.S. Department of Labor to serve dislocated (laid-off)
workers at sites such as The Boeing Company in Long Beach,
California, and McClellan AFB in Sacramento, California.
I developed the first comprehensive,
regional training directory in California so that students and job seekers alike
could see and compare their postsecondary education and training options. From this experience,
I played a key role in the design of the Enhanced State Training
Inventory for California.
The
Skill Matrix Network was an online resource directory I developed as part of a demonstration project to identify skill gaps in
the high-tech labor market and to provide free skills assessments to career
explorers and job seekers.
I developed the Career Pathways Handbook as a first-of-its-kind
resource that combined the best elements
of occupational resource and career exploration content with "real
people" and career pathways content.
CareerDNA is an online, interactive career discovery and
assessment tool based on the 30-year practice of Dr. Brian Schwartz, a
psychologist and leading career development professional. I not only
played a major role in the design of the CareerDNA tool, but I was
responsible for the content development of the occupational taxonomy
and all related career material, including the utilization of O*NET
"intelligence" data. My CareerDNA
work also includes helping to develop next-generation talent
management solutions to help organizations meet their workforce
challenges.
